Why Should I Purchase a Memorial from a Monument Company Instead of a Cemetery?

When purchasing a monument from a monument company, you are buying directly from the manufacturer. Tegeler Monument specializes in manufacturing and designing each type of cemetery memorial. Not only does purchasing from a monument company save you money, but it ensures that you receive the best design quality for your memorial.

When Should I Buy a Memorial?

You can purchase a memorial at any time, even before a loved one has passed. You can even buy your own memorial and design it exactly the way you want it. If you are purchasing a memorial for someone who has already passed, our designers will work with you to create something that truly represents your loved one.

Do I Need to Make Pre-Arrangements?

Making pre-arrangements is not necessary, but it can help take the strain off your family in a time of mourning. While making pre-arrangements, you have the option of planning your memorial exactly the way you want it to look and deciding on a cemetery. Making pre-arrangements guarantees that you will get your memorial at today’s price, saving your family money in the long run. If you have a family plot, marking your grave ahead of time may allow other family members to make their pre-arrangements as well.

What is the Difference Between At-Need and Pre-Need?

At-need memorials are purchased after a loved one has died. Pre-need memorials are purchased before a loved one has passed. Some couples opt to order pre-need memorials for themselves to save their families money and to prevent them from having to make hard decisions after they are gone.

How Do I Know What Monument Types are Allowed by a Cemetery?

Each cemetery has its own set of rules and regulations. At Tegeler Monument, we have extensive knowledge and information available on each cemetery’s rules and regulations. We can help you choose a cemetery based on the type of memorial you want to plan or vice-versa. If you have any questions about your cemetery, give us a call at (410) 944-0300, and we will be happy to help.

Can You Match New Monuments to Existing Monuments?

Yes, we can match any existing monument or marker. Whether you want to match a family member’s memorial or a memorial that you saw and liked, Tegeler Monument can do any design possible. If you have an idea, please call to discuss it with us, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Can You Help Me Design a Memorial?

Yes. Our expert designers are here to assist you with any design questions you may have. We can even create a completely customized monument for your loved one. Any vision you have we can make a reality. Before doing any work to the stone, our designers will send you a 2D drawing of what your memorial will look like for your approval. You can make as many changes as you would like to the drawing to make it perfect.

What is the Difference Between a Monument, a Flush Marker and Slant Marker?

An upright monument stands upright and above ground. These are the bigger memorials that you see in the cemeteries. A flush marker is flush with the ground. Depending on the cemetery’s regulations, flush markers can be made from granite or bronze. A slant marker is like a mini monument. It sits closer to the ground and has a slanted front. Please see the below diagram for the different types of memorials we have available.

Do You Make Religious Monuments?

Yes. Tegeler Monument creates memorials for all religions. If you have any questions or would like to see some examples, please give us a call at (410) 944-0300 or fill out our contact form, and we will provide you with all of the necessary information.

What Materials Are Used in the Monuments and Markers?

Monuments are created from marble and granite. Typically, granite monuments are stronger and hold up better over generations. Markers are made from marble, granite, and bronze. Depending on your cemetery’s regulations, they may require you to have a certain type of memorial.

How Much Does It Cost to Purchase a Grave Marker?

Since memorials are completely customizable, price depends on the type of memorial in which you are interested, size and color. Please call us for a free quote at (410) 944-0300.

Which Granite Colors Can I Choose From?

Tegeler Monument Company offers many granite colors to choose from. You can view our granite colors here. Some cemeteries have restrictions on marble, granite, and bronze. Please let us know which cemeteries you are considering, and we will share your color options.

Are There Specific Options for a Double-Interment Single-Site?

The memorial options that are available for a double-interment single-site are typically an individual marker or monument that is designed to accommodate two or more names. This means that you would have the memorial sized to fit on one grave but engraved with two or more names.

Can You Make Engravings in Languages Other Than English?

Yes. Tegeler Monument Company has the ability to create a custom memorial in any language. Our expert designers are well versed in creating memorials with different languages such as Hebrew, Spanish, Russian, and many more. We typically ask for a clearly written or typed document with the exact wording you want on the monument. This way, we can ensure that we duplicate the letters perfectly.

Are There Monument Design Limitations?

No. We can create any design that you have in mind, as long as it follows the cemetery’s regulations. We can put any design that you want on your monument, even if it is completely customized, at no extra cost.

Can I Have a Picture Laser-Etched on my Marker?

Yes. We can do a laser-etching on any granite monument or marker. Typically, a dark colored granite like Jet Black or Bahama Blue is the best option for an etching. We can also do a ceramic or stainless-steel cameo photo, which is inserted into the memorial.

Do You Offer Monuments for Pets?

Yes. Tegeler Monument has designed many memorials for pets. From memorials that are installed in a pet cemetery, to a memorial designed for your home, we do it all.

Will the Cemetery Install my Marker or Monument?

Tegeler Monument Compant sells and designs memorials for all cemeteries, including every cemetery in Maryland, cemeteries in D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Memorials can be made for all 50 states. We do our own work to ensure that your memorial is installed correctly by a professional grave monument installation crew.
